EMPACT – Malleable Unity | Socially Engaged Art Intervention by Vorres Museum

The Socially Engaged Art Intervention “Malleable unity” will take place on the 22nd of November at the Vorres Museum, 10:00-18:00, in the framework of the innovative project “EMPACT – Empathy and Sustainability: The Art of Thinking like a Mountain”, co-funded by the EU Creative Europe Programme (Grant Agreement No: 101055903 – EMPACT – CREA-CULT-2021-COOP-2).

The Socially Engaged Art Intervention “Malleable unity” is an idea of multidisciplinary artist Lea Petrou and curator Olga Daniilopoulou. The project aims to encourage communication, inclusivity, acceptance, empathy and sustainability by bringing together vulnerable groups, students and the general public and helping them connect.

Using earth (clay), seeds, and a plethora of organic materials, Lea Petrou will work with the participants to jointly create an ephemeral installation of objects that will eventually degrade and return to earth.

Lea Petrou’s works are an attempt to approach, read and encounter reality in different ways. Translation, conversion, code, mapping, metric systems are notions that intrigue her and permeate her art. Perception of time, place, movement, speech constitute a large part of her artistic interest. Participation has been a key methodology throughout her practice.

The artistic project is organized by the Vorres Museum and will be held in the Greek language.
